Female Infertility And Organs

Many women are experiencing infertility due to their tubes being blocked and also due to pelvic adhesions. This is due to an increase in the number of sexually transmitted infections, the increased use of inter-uterine contraceptive devices and also the number of people opting for an abortion has also increased. Some of the infections which can be sexually transmitted are gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Women who are making use of intra-uterine contraceptive devices might have some small infections which might get aggravated later on and they could also develop pelvic abscess. Though many women suffered from pelvic infections before an abortion was made legal, many women who are opting for an abortion today also suffer from a pelvic infection. Many women who have a ruptured appendix might also suffer from a pelvic infection and the fallopian tubes could also get scarred. Women might have pelvic adhesions after having surgery to remove cysts in the ovary, fibroids and ectopic pregnancies or after any other kind of abdominal surgery.

Some women are infertile because the uterus does not have the correct shape. But this can also be due to a previous miscarriage and the woman might be perfectly able to conceive. Fibroids are one of the reasons as to why the uterus does not have the correct shape. The other reasons could be because the uterus has not developed properly. Many women who have taken diethylstilbestrol (DES) during their pregnancy will find that their daughters have a uterus which is not shaped correctly.

Hypothyroidism or the deficiency of the hormone thyroxin which is found in the glandular follicles and which helps in metabolism and hyperthyroidism which is the excess production of thyroxin are responsible for infertility. This can also be due to hormonal imbalances which can disturb the menstrual cycle. Women suffering from high blood sugar and liver problems could also face problems while conceiving.

An infection in the vagina can also affect the cervical mucus and the pH in the vagina and the sperm can survive only for a short time period in such an environment. Sometimes the cervical mucus and secretions from the vagina could also contain some sperm antibodies and this could also result in infertility. But many doctors also say that these antibodies can also be found in people who are fertile and healthy. But they can make the sperms inactive and also kill them in some people.

There are many couples who are infertile and they get all the required tests done and find out that there is no clear reason as to why they are unable to conceive. Some of these couples conceive much later but there is always a small percentage which does not conceive. But many advances have been made in the field of fertility treatment and now there are fewer cases where couples are unable to have a baby.

The time when sexual intercourse takes place is important in order to conceive. A woman who has a 28 day cycle should engage in sexual intercourse on every day from the tenth to the fourteenth day of her menstrual cycle. These are the days when she is completely fertile and the chances of conceiving are the highest. Men who have a low sperm count should also get some advice about the best time for sexual intercourse apart from the woman who should know her fertile dates depending on the length of her cycle. The position which is adopted during sexual intercourse also plays an important role. The sperm can enter the cervix of the woman when she is lying on her back and her legs are around the hips of her partner. After the orgasm, she should not move for over ten to fifteen minutes and she should keep a pillow below her hips.
