Infertility And Herbs

Over 150 different kinds of herbs are being used to treat infertility. Sometimes herbs are used in different combinations but it is also dependent on the needs of the patient. These herbal cures can now be obtained in the form of pills, tablets, powders and also decoctions. Herbs have been used to treat infertility for many centuries. Some of the herbs which are being used to treat infertility are:

Dong Quai – Chinese women have been using this herb for over a thousand years to maintain the regularity of their menstrual cycles and to keep their reproductive systems healthy. This herb contains a large amount of Vitamin E, cobalt and iron but this herb has to be used for many months before its benefits can be reaped.

Red Raspberry leaves – Women in China have used this herb for many centuries to keep their reproductive system healthy. This contains a lot of vitamin C, A, B-complex, D, E, iron, Phosphorous, manganese and calcium.

Black Cohosh – This is a herb which has been used by the ancient Americans and it helps in maintaining the hormonal balance in the body. Some scientists in Europe state that this herb contains triterpenes and flavonoids which stop the secretion of the luteinising hormone. This herb should be consumed only in small amounts in every dosage and excessive consumption can give rise to headaches.

Alfalfa – This contains large quantities of beta carotene and trace minerals which helps in giving nourishment to the glands and the chlorophyll helps in making the blood pure.

Kelp – This herb contains a large amount of trace minerals which help in purifying the blood. This also contains iodine, potassium and calcium. The iodine helps people who have hypothyroidism which is one of the reasons for a miscarriage and it helps in increasing the levels of prolactin.

Ho Shou Wu – Many research studies have shown that is very useful in treating ovulation and infertility.

False Unicorn – This is also known as the helonias root. This can be used for the uterus as well as a diuretic. This helps in treating menstrual pains, ovarian pains and other dysfunctions. False unicorn is one of the strongest herbs which help in treating fertility.

Damiana - Many specialists have recommended this herb for treating fertility and increasing the libido in both men and women. But no scientific studies have been conducted to prove its effectiveness.

Wild Yam – A study was conducted on the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria. This tribe has the reputation of having the largest rate of twin births in the whole world. Through the study, scientists found out that their food contained large quantities of yam. Yams help in increasing fertility since they contain many compounds like steroids which get converted into sex hormones and this initiates the release of FSH which lets the eggs get released by the ovaries. If large amounts of yam are consumed, then more than one egg will be released every month. Wild yam is now available in the form of a cream and this is known as progesterone cream. This cream should be applied on the abdomen, thighs and the upper arm where it gets absorbed easily. This is also available in the form of capsules and this can be used as a combination with other herbs to make the hormones function normally.
